LG 5.5 Cu. Ft. Top-Load Washers: WT7400CW vs WT8400CW

LG lists both WT7400CW and WT8400CW as 5.5 cu. ft. impeller washers with TurboWash3D. Compare their documented height, cycle selection and ColdWash option before checking actual loading access, installation and the offered unit.

Equal capacity doesn’t make these the same washer

Match the full U.S. model and suffix on the offered appliance. This comparison covers WT7400CW and WT8400CW, not every LG 5.5 cu. ft. washer, an agitator version or another country’s capacity rating.

LG’s checked WT7400CW page displays a “New Model Available” notice. That doesn’t establish stock at your seller or the condition of a particular unit. Confirm the actual model, availability and written offer before choosing.

The shared count hides different choices. The WT8400 sheet’s complete listed program set doesn’t name Delicates. Don’t substitute AI Wash, Quick Wash or a downloaded program without checking the exact owner’s instructions and the item’s care label.

“ColdWash: No” doesn’t mean WT8400CW can’t wash with cold water. Its sheet lists Cold among its wash/rinse temperatures. A branded option and a temperature choice are separate settings.

Check reach and full installation separately

WT8400CW’s listed cabinet is 1½ inches shorter while the stated width and depth match. LG promotes its EasyUnload design, but neither that name nor cabinet height proves that you can comfortably reach your laundry.

Try loading access and the controls on the actual model when possible. Check the delivery route, lid-opening space, wall clearances, floor support and electrical, water and drain requirements against its installation instructions. The table gives cabinet dimensions, not a complete installed envelope.

Both models have the same listed volume. That doesn’t establish identical item-loading permission, a universal comforter size or better cleaning. Match your usual loads to each manual and their care labels.

Choose from the feature you actually need

  • You depend on Delicates or ColdWash: WT7400CW’s reviewed sheet explicitly lists them. Confirm the exact cycle and option combinations in the applicable manual before buying.
  • You want AI Wash or a lower cabinet: WT8400CW documents those differences. Check its control workflow and your actual reach instead of treating AI as a cleaning-performance guarantee.
  • You only need 5.5 cu. ft.: capacity alone doesn’t resolve this comparison. Compare access, required programs and a complete dated offer.

Request the exact washer’s condition, delivery, installation, accessories, removal and written return/service terms together. Verify warranty eligibility for that purchase; a motor warranty headline isn’t full-machine coverage. Leave a choice unresolved if the needed cycle, fit or offer terms can’t be verified.
