Washer Brands Compared

U.S. comparison checked October 12, 2026. Compare loading configuration, a specific model’s capacity and support route, then confirm fit and the local purchase terms. Manufacturer catalog records establish specifications, not local availability.

Choose the configuration before the brand

A brand offers several models with different sizes and designs. Use the same loading configuration and household requirements when building a shortlist. The four top-load examples below make the capacity differences concrete; the separate service table adds a bounded regional ownership input.

For a loading decision, start with top-load versus front-load washers. A high capacity number alone does not establish better cleaning, suitable bulky-item loading or easier reach.

Compare actual model records

Manufacturer-listed U.S. top-load examples, checked October 12, 2026
Brand or lineExact sales identifierCapacity, cu. ft.Record and next check
LGWT8405CB5.3LG specification sheet includes the black B and white W versions. Confirm the full offered identifier and installation document.
GE ProfilePTW605BSRWS4.9Manufacturer product record. Confirm the seller’s exact unit and local delivery status.
GE AppliancesGTW525ACWWB4.3Manufacturer product record. Use its stated capacity rather than transferring figures from another GE washer.
Speed QueenTC5003WN3.2Manufacturer product record separately lists model number AWN632SP116TW02. Keep both identifiers for document and service enquiries.

The LG example lists the largest capacity in this set; the Speed Queen example lists the smallest. That comparison applies to these records, not every washer under either brand. GE Profile and GE Appliances are presented separately because their product lines and the service dataset use separate groups.

Fit requires more than capacity. LG’s sheet gives WT8405C product dimensions of 27 W × 43 H × 28 3/8 D inches. The Speed Queen manufacturer-authored sheet hosted by Designer Appliances gives TC5003WN dimensions of 25 5/8 W × 42 3/4 H × 28 D inches and 53 inches with the lid open. These are document-specific dimensions, not installation clearances. Match the actual unit’s installation instructions before deciding it fits.

Regional first-year service comparison

Yale Appliance’s 2026 washer service tables, updated September 3, 2026, report these percentages:

Brand-group service rates, separate from the model examples
GroupTop-loadFront-load
LG3.9%2.7%
GE Profile3.4%10.5%
GE Appliances7.1%8.5%
Speed Queen4.6%Not reported
Category average4.4%4.6%

Yale divides washers serviced by washers sold during the first year. Its regional service operation covers Massachusetts, Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire. Per-group washer counts are not supplied; the headline 33,190 calls covers all appliances.

These are retailer cohort results, not national failure probabilities, individual-model rates or lifespan estimates. GE Profile is a product-line grouping. Missing brands or cells do not mean worse performance. The displayed top-load table says 3.4% for GE Profile; the embedded narration says 3.5%. We retain the table’s attributed value, not a reconciled rate.

Compare the support task you would actually need

Verified routes, with local coverage still to be confirmed
Brand or lineDocuments and partsService decision
LGLG owner routes connect model-specific documents, washer problem guidance and parts identification. Preserve model and serial information.Use LG support to identify the appropriate repair route, then confirm that the provider serves your ZIP and model.
GE and GE ProfileGE owner routes separate full-model literature, problem triage and model-specific parts diagrams.Use the manufacturer service route. A shared provider does not establish identical parts, procedures or coverage across models.
Speed QueenSpeed Queen owner routes separate residential and commercial document portals and the Alliance parts store. The service map requires Functional cookies. If the map cannot run, use the manufacturer contact fallback and request a local provider.

A working locator or parts catalog is a route to verification. It does not establish a booked visit, available part or an applicable warranty. Ask the provider about your exact model, location, call-out terms and parts lead time; read the relevant written warranty before treating coverage as a deciding advantage.

Make the shortlist from stated criteria

  1. Configuration and laundry needs: keep candidates that meet your loading and item requirements. Compare the exact models, not only the logos.
  2. Physical fit: check the installation drawing, lid or door opening, connections and delivery path. Eliminate a model if a required measurement is unresolved.
  3. Ownership support: confirm a local service route and the actual warranty and parts enquiry outcome. Brand reputation cannot fill a missing answer.
  4. Service evidence: use the regional table as one limited input within the matching configuration. Do not assign a group percentage to a model or predict its lifetime.
  5. Purchase confirmation: get a dated written quote for the exact model, including delivery, installation, connections, haul-away, tax and exclusions, before choosing on total cost.

This comparison supports a brand and model shortlist. Prices, stock, committed delivery dates and installed totals require a local offer; no current offer or overall winning model is established here.

Sources and applicability

Manufacturer product records and LG’s dated 2024 specification sheet support the exact-model capacity examples. Speed Queen’s product record and the manufacturer-authored hosted sheet corroborate TC5003WN capacity and the separately listed model number. Document revision and actual label applicability must still be matched to the offered unit.

Support routes were checked October 12, 2026 through the published LG, GE and Speed Queen owner guides. Yale’s attributed regional table and its method are scoped in the service section. No national survey, independent cleaning test, common cross-brand platform or individual-model failure rate is inferred.
