Maytag’s front-load CL reference describes a Clean Washer reminder. Do not borrow an LG or Samsung Child Lock definition for this display.
Confirm CL and the model’s cleaning instructions
Keep the exact display and full model. Maytag’s checked front-load article says CL appears after 30 cycles and clears after a completed cleaning cycle or three further cycles. That clearing behavior does not prove that cleaning occurred.
Use the model’s Clean Washer instructions for its load state and permitted cleaner. This page does not supply a universal bleach, vinegar or detergent recipe.
Separate the reminder from another problem
The washer operates normally and CL is the only message
Check the applicable care task and complete it as directed. Record the cleaning date and outcome, rather than only the disappearance of the reminder.
The controls do not respond or the door remains locked
Record that separate symptom and any other display. CL alone does not establish the cause. Do not force the door, bypass a lock or use a different brand’s button sequence.
Your manual gives CL a different meaning or has no CL entry
Use Maytag support with the full model and a safe display photo. Keep the definition unresolved until the applicable reference is confirmed.
Know what the result establishes
A completed cleaning task and normal operation support returning to ordinary use. Persistent no-start, retained water or a physical door fault needs its own assessment. A reminder is not a verified failed part.
