Drain Filter

A drain-pump filter, where fitted, catches debris in the drainage path. A restriction doesn’t establish a failed pump.

Access comes before cleaning

Does your manual identify an owner-accessible filter?

Find the exact filter or trap and its water-release instructions. Not every washer provides owner access.

Retained or hot water can escape when a cap is loosened. Don’t unscrew an unidentified cap or open cabinet panels to look for a filter. Use only the documented isolation, cooling and controlled-drainage procedure.

Owner access is documented

Prepare the permitted care procedure

Have the specified water containment ready before loosening anything. Don’t assume a small emergency tube exists. Follow the manual’s opening, cleaning and reassembly directions.

Access is not documented

Keep the cabinet closed

Use safe visible drain-hose observations first. A service-only trap, inlet screen or lint filter has a different access and diagnostic path.

Start with the drainage guide

Keep the component names separate

Drain-pump filter or trap
The documented debris-catching part in the drain path, when fitted. Its care and access depend on the model.
Other screens and filters
An inlet screen, external water filter, lint filter or recirculation filter isn’t automatically the drain-pump filter.

If the visible hose is kinked, follow its model-specific routing guidance before opening a filter. If documented care removes debris and restores drainage, record the obstruction as the finding.

Clear filter, retained water, or a damaged housing?

If the filter is clear but water still remains, stop repeated cleaning and obtain model-specific drain-path diagnosis. If a cap, seal or housing is damaged or leaks after care, stop use and have those items checked separately. A pump assembly isn’t automatically required.

Before ordering a replacement

  1. Match the complete model and suffix

Use the applicable manufacturer parts record and its exact cap, seal, housing or pump entry.

  2. Confirm the replacement chain

Verify the revision and documented supersession. Similar appearance or the same brand doesn’t establish compatibility.

  3. Obtain the applicable repair procedure

Internal access and damaged housings require a separate assessment from owner-permitted filter care.

Care cost or a repair quote?

Compare cleaning, cap or seal replacement, and housing or pump work after the actual defect is identified. Ask which findings support the part, what access labor is included and whether warranty coverage applies. Compare a confirmed complete repair with an installed replacement.
