Write down what you need before selecting a pedestal. LG’s WDP6B is a storage drawer with a basket that raises a compatible appliance. SideKick is an additional compact washer installed beneath a matching main washer. They are different products with different installation and compatibility checks.
Build an exact compatibility record
- Copy the main washer’s complete model and suffix. Identify the proposed pedestal or SideKick by its own full product code.
- Find explicit manufacturer approval for that combination and configuration. WDP6B’s product page says select LG front-load washers/dryers; a 27 inch label alone does not prove the individual match.
- Obtain both applicable installation documents and the required attachment/kit information. Keep an older pedestal’s identity rather than assuming a newer washer fits it.
- Confirm finished height, loading/control reach, drawer opening, service access and the complete installation scope at your site.
Additional checks for SideKick
LG’s placement guide requires a matching front-loading LG washer manufactured after 2009 and the corresponding 27 inch or 29 inch width. Those conditions are not a complete compatibility table: confirm the exact product pair.
LG says SideKick cannot operate as a standalone unit, and its installation guidance prohibits placing it under a dryer. Do not transfer a storage pedestal’s washer/dryer use to the pedestal washer.
SideKick installation includes mounting, water connections and drainage arrangements. Have the installer use the complete matching instructions and supplied/required kit. Do not use a few copied hose or screw steps as a complete installation procedure, or lift a heavy main washer alone.
Proceed only with the supported configuration
- You want storage and easier loading: compare the compatible storage pedestal and check the actual installed reach and drawer access.
- You want a second small-load washer: verify the exact SideKick pairing and the additional installation requirements.
- The match, layout or kit is unresolved: pause the order and ask LG using both full identifiers. Keep the result unverified until the manufacturer supplies a usable answer.
Price the complete approved setup
Once the combination is confirmed, request the same scope from each seller: exact accessory, necessary hardware, delivery, installation and removal if applicable. Confirm written warranty and service terms separately. This guide supplies no current local stock or installed offer.
