A water-level problem doesn’t identify a failed pressure switch. Whirlpool documents different sensing designs, so confirm the exact washer and diagnostic findings before selecting a replacement.
Describe the water-level problem first
Record the complete washer model and suffix, cycle stage, exact message and whether water is entering, staying in the tub or draining. A normal-looking display doesn’t identify an internal part, and an error naming a system doesn’t prove which component failed.
Stop for escaping water or electrical warning signs. Don’t reach power controls through water. Use only safe external observations and the owner’s documented steps while arranging diagnosis.
Pressure switch and pressure transducer aren’t a universal replacement
Whirlpool’s W11300744 Rev. A tech sheet describes a pressure-switch test that evaluates the switch, control and wiring, with checks of the connected hose and air-trap path.
A different Whirlpool tech sheet, W11466917 Rev. A, describes a pressure transducer on the main control, connected through a hose to the tub pressure dome. Its water-level test includes hose condition and leak checks before its control-level repair decision.
These are document-specific designs. They show why you must identify the actual sensing arrangement before shopping for a separate switch. Neither sheet supplies a universal repair instruction, and this guide doesn’t assign either design to your washer without an exact document match.
Ask what the diagnosis establishes
- A separate switch is proposed: ask for the applicable model document, identified assembly and findings that distinguish it from the connected pressure path, wiring and control.
- A control assembly is proposed: ask whether the model’s sensor is part of that assembly and what checks support replacing it.
- Only a fill or drain symptom is known: continue diagnosis. Buying a pressure switch now would assume an unconfirmed cause.
Don’t transfer test values, connector pinouts, error meanings or adjustment advice from a different Whirlpool platform.
Confirm the exact serviceable assembly
Keep the full appliance identifier, applicable parts diagram and diagnostic document together. Confirm whether the proposed repair concerns a switch, hose, pressure-path assembly or control. Obtain the exact current replacement identifier and any documented supersession from a source that supports that model.
A listing called a water-level sensor may describe a different design. An apparent brand match or similar hose connection doesn’t establish fitment. This guide supplies no universal sensor part number.
Keep internal testing with qualified service
The cited tech sheets are for service technicians. Their cabinet access, electrical measurements and service-mode procedures aren’t homeowner checks. Don’t blow into a sensor, turn an adjustment screw, bridge a connector or open an energized console based on this overview.
Request a complete quote for the confirmed repair, including any required setup and documented outcome verification. If the original symptom remains, keep the diagnosis open rather than ordering another sensor.
Sources and applicability

- Tech sheet W11466917 Rev. A: Covered document design with main-control pressure transducer; not every Whirlpool washer.
