Maytag Washer F20: What a Reset Can and Cannot Resolve

Maytag’s front-load reference identifies F20 as no water or insufficient incoming water. A control reset can clear a temporary condition, but it cannot establish that the water supply is correct.

Record the fill state before resetting

Copy the complete display and model. Note whether no water enters, filling is slow, or the problem began after installation. Look only at safely accessible supply valves and visible hose bends. Do not disconnect a pressurized hose or pull out a heavy washer.

Do not reset during an active leak or reach a plug through water. Stop for electrical warning signs.

The reset described by the checked reference

Maytag’s front-load F20 article describes disconnecting power for five minutes and reconnecting it. Use that route only when it matches your model’s instructions and power can be disconnected safely. Do not substitute an undocumented button sequence.

Record whether the warning clears and whether filling returns during permitted normal operation. Those are separate results. Repeating the reset without a new observation does not narrow the fault.

Choose the remaining condition

An accessible valve or visible hose issue was found

Use the applicable installation instructions to correct the external condition, or have the installer do it. Record which check restored filling.

The message returns or the supply is inaccessible

Arrange model-specific diagnosis. Maytag lists inlet screens among its checks, but screen access requires shutting off and disconnecting the supply correctly. Leave that work unchecked unless the matching procedure and skill are available.

The controls clear, but no water enters

Treat the supply fault as unresolved. Clearing a display is not proof of a sound valve or control board.

Before a valve is ordered

Ask which finding supports the repair and which exact-model parts record identifies the replacement. This page provides no electrical test or fitment claim.
