Samsung’s U.S. reference lists IE as a system error. It lists 1E separately under water-level or leakage warnings. The first character matters.
Resolve the character before the repair path
Keep a photo of the full display, including any alternating characters. Compare it with the warning table for the complete model. If the screen cannot distinguish capital I from number 1 clearly, ask Samsung to confirm it from the model and image.
Do not use an LG IE result to interpret a Samsung washer. A shared search term does not establish a shared fault or procedure.
Which interpretation is supported?
The matching reference confirms IE
Use the system-error route in that reference. Record whether the controls respond, which stage stopped and whether the warning returns after the permitted owner action. A system warning alone does not identify a replacement control board.
The reference confirms 1E or LE
Use that model’s water-level or leakage route instead. If water is escaping, stop operation and keep away from wet electrical connections. An empty-cycle experiment is not the next step during an active leak.
The model document is missing or disagrees
Keep the interpretation unresolved. Send the display photo, model and operating state to Samsung support. Do not choose a definition because it appears in more search results.
A useful service record
Include the exact characters, full model, cycle stage, visible water state and any owner action already completed. Keep observations separate from assumptions such as “bad board” or “bad pressure sensor.” No internal electrical test or part match is supplied here.
