How to remove and clean a Samsung washer detergent drawer

Match your Samsung washer’s drawer design before removing it. The conventional drawer and WF50A8800AV automatic dispenser in Samsung’s U.S. care guide use different releases. Do not force a drawer because another model’s removal method looks similar.

Identify the drawer and applicable instructions

Record the full model and compare its owner instructions with the illustrations in Samsung’s cleaning guide. Stop the washer and follow the manual’s required power-disconnection and cleaning precautions from a dry, safe position. If the pictured drawer or release differs, use the matching model instructions before pulling farther.

Conventional drawer pictured by Samsung

Samsung describes opening the drawer to its stop and lifting out removable dispensing inserts. For its pictured conventional front-load design, the drawer releases by pressing both side ends inward while withdrawing it. Its pictured top-load drawer tips upward for removal. These are design-specific examples, not permission to use either method on every Samsung model.

Rinse removed inserts in warm water. Clean the opening with a soft cloth or nonmetallic brush. Replace inserts, align the drawer with its rails and close it completely.

WF50A8800AV automatic dispenser

Samsung’s separate WF50A8800AV section uses an internal release lever. After removal, rear pull tabs release both compartment tops. Clean compartments with warm water and a soft brush, then wipe them dry. Clean the recess, allow it to dry completely and reseal the tops snugly around their edges before reinserting.

Check the result before returning to use

  • Parts match and reassemble normally: confirm every removed insert or top is back in its documented position and the drawer seats fully.
  • The drawer sticks, a component is damaged or the release is unclear: stop. Do not pry it, file a tab or dismantle the surrounding housing. Ask Samsung for the matching owner procedure.
  • Dispensing trouble, leakage or odor persists: record the exact model, product used, compartment and observed behavior. Cleaning does not establish a failed dispenser, valve or control. Obtain the appropriate support route.
