Samsung separates routine Self Clean from recovery for existing mildew smell or visible mold. Confirm the actual model, cleaning cycle and dispenser instructions before adding a product; the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo has separate care guidance.
Identify the washer and the cleaning task
Record the complete model, visible residue, odor location and any water left in the tub. Find the owner instructions for its cleaning cycle and dispenser. Check whether you are doing routine care or responding to an existing mildew smell.
Stop use for smoke, an electrical burning smell, escaping water or damaged wiring. Do not force a door, mix cleaning products or open a filter with hot or uncontrolled retained water.
Samsung’s general care page sends Bespoke AI Laundry Combo owners to a separate guide. Do not transfer the following general recovery example to that machine or to a dispenser whose instructions differ.
Choose routine care or existing-mildew recovery
Routine cleaning is due, without existing mold or mildew smell
Samsung’s routine Self Clean guidance uses an empty washer and normally no added cleaner. Match the available Self Clean, Self Clean+ or Pure Cycle name to the actual panel. A reminder alone is not permission to add a bleach treatment.
Existing mildew smell or visible mold matches the support procedure
First confirm that the model and dispenser instructions match this Samsung support example. If they do not, ask Samsung for the complete method before adding anything.
- Empty the tub and use the supported Spin-only operation to remove remaining water.
- The reviewed mildew procedure uses liquid chlorine bleach to the detergent compartment’s MAX line, explicitly excluding the bleach compartment. That placement belongs to this matched procedure; it is not a rule for every Samsung design.
- Start the supported Self Clean operation immediately, without leaving bleach standing in the washer.
- After completion, wipe visible tub residue and use the documented Rinse+Spin follow-up.
- Complete the supported drying and separate front-load filter-care tasks. Do not open a hot-water path immediately after a cleaning cycle.
If the supplied manual specifies another compartment or method, stop and resolve that difference with Samsung. Do not choose between incompatible instructions by experimenting.
The odor is localized to the drawer, or water does not drain normally
A tub recovery does not replace the dispenser’s removal and reassembly task. Use the Samsung drawer guide to distinguish conventional and automatic designs. Retained water needs a drainage route before an unidentified filter cap is opened.
Use the result to decide when to request service
Keep the model, matched instruction, product used and completed steps in the care record. Samsung directs service when mold or odor remains after several recovery attempts. Record prior attempts rather than starting an arbitrary new series of stronger treatments.
A fresh smell does not prove disinfection or establish that a gasket, pump or other component has failed. Persistent findings, damaged hardware or instructions that do not match the unit need manufacturer assessment.
